12th 'We Care' International Film Festival to open in November

We Care International Film Festival, which is aimed at sensitising masses on disability issues through cinema, will open its 12th edition in the last week of November this year.

The upcoming edition will be a three day festival from November 24-26. It was launched here today at the award distribution ceremony of the previous edition.

Kiran Mehra-Kerpleman, Chairperson Jury of 11th We Care Film Fest and Director, UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan Indrajit Banerjee, Director, UNESCO, Paris and other dignitaries attended the event.

"When I tell other member nations of UNESCO about this festival, they are startled. The next edition will be attached with the conference on disability. Given the impact of this film festival, we will have a film fest on the parallel track during the conference," said Banerjee.
 

The 11th edition had received 58 short films and documentaries from India and abroad and a preview committee shortlisted 31 short films and documentaries for screening, out of which 12 movies bagged awards in different categories depending on their duration.

'Come With Me', directed by Gautam Bose, a 52-minute long film, on mental illness won the best film in the long duration category, while 'The Touch' bagged the award in 'upto one minute' section. It is directed by Ambuja Satapathy.
