13 cattle run over by goods train

At least 13 cattle, including cows, were killed when a goods train ploughed into a herd of the cattle which was crossing a railway track near Karaikudi here today, police said.

The mishap occurred at Thaanaaru Bridge this afternoon and held up the train for about 25 minutes till the track was cleared of the carcasses.

The goods train was on its way to Tiruchirappalli from Kallal in Sivaganga District when the accident occurred, police added.
