15-year-old held for 'raping' girl

A 15-year-old boy was today arrested on the charge of raping a minor girl here, police said.

The boy, who has been sent to a juvenile remand home, was taken into custody after the 14-year-old girl's parents lodged a complaint, they said.

According to police, the boy and girl were neighbours in Thagarapuvalasa area of the district and were in a relationship. Some days ago, the girl asked the boy to give a commitment of marriage, but the latter refused.

The girl told her parents about the affair following which they approached the police, who registered a rape case against the boy.
