2 children drown in a pit at construction site

Two children drowned in a pit filled with rainwater at a construction site near the Railway quarters here this evening.

The children were identified as Sai Harshit (11) and Joseph Prakash (8).

While Joseph was the son of a daily wager named Chinna Raom, Sai Harshit's father, Ramakrishna, is a junior engineer with the East Coast Railway.

Sai, Joseph and another boy were playing in the Railway quarters area after climbing a compound wall. Sai and Joseph stepped into a pit filled with rainwater without realising that it was quite deep, and drowned.

Police have registered a case and are probing further.
