2 held with smoke explosives ahead of assembly polls in city

Kolkata Police today seized smoke explosives and arrested two persons in this connection from Howrah bridge.

During a naka on the Howrah Bridge, police arrested Amit Shaw and Pradip Roy after recovering 105 pieces of metal rockets and metal containers of China-made explosives from the mini truck they were traveling in, a senior police officer said.

"These explosives are capable of producing medium to high explosion smoke. We are questioning the duo and a case has been registered under Section 9B of IE Act," the officer said.
