2 of family die in road mishap

"Tapas Mukherjee (60) and his daughter-in-law Shree Mukherjee (22) died when their speeding car driven by son Tambak Mukherjee lost control and hit the truck at Khano More this afternoon," Superintendent of Police S M H Meerza said.

Tapas died on the spot. His daughter-in-law died later in Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, he said.

Tapas's wife Tapasi Mukherjee and Tambak suffered serious injury and were admitted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital.

The police sources earlier said three persons of the family had died.

The family was coming from Serampore, they said.
