Four more persons have been
arrested in Mizoram for allegedly spreading fake news on novel coronavirus, taking the total number of arrests in this regard to 15, police said on Wednesday.
Inspector General of Police L H Shanliana told reporters that all the arrests were made between March 10 and 13.
He said a fake circular was circulated on Tuesday night appealing Mizos residing in other states to return home within a stipulated time, failing which they would be declared non-Mizo.
Shanliana said the person from whom the fake circular had originated has been identified and would be arrested soon.
He cautioned people against spreading or believing in rumours.
The IG said that 42 entry points to Mizoram along its inter-state and international borders have been sealed to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.
