Four chief ministers of non-BJP ruled states today held discussions here ahead of the NITI Aayog meeting tomorrow, sources said.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerejee, her Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka counterparts - Chandrababu Naidu, Pinarayi Vijayan and H D Kumaraswamy - met at Andhra Bhawan ahead of the NITI Aayog meet to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
The four chief ministers had earlier demanded that the Centre provide special financial aid to their states.
Naidu's Telugu Desam Party had in March pulled out of the NDA government after it refused to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting comes at a time when regional parties are mulling the idea of forging a united front to take on the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
No Congress chief minister attended the meeting as Naidu has always maintained a distance from the grand old party.
The Congress had not invited Naidu for Sonia Gandhi's dinner for opposition parties and Rahul Gandhi's Iftar party.
