400 CRPF jawans fall ill due after consuming food in Kerala

At least 400 jawans attached to the CRPF camp at Pallipuram here fell ill due to suspected food poisoning today, the police said.

They were admitted to various hospitals in the city following complaints of upset stomach and vomiting after consuming food, it said.

109 jawans are under observation at Trivandrum medical college hospital. State Health Minister K K Shylaja visited them at the hospital tonight.

The medical college hospital said all but two of the 111 jawans admitted had been discharged by this afternoon as their condition became stable.

Since the condition of two jawans -- Sridar (25) and Kumarasway (21) -- was not satisfactory, they have not yet been discharged, the hospital said in a release.
