41-year-old woman undergoes sex change surgery

In a first of its kind at the Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital, a 41-year-old woman, has successfully undergone a sex change operation.

The patient has fully recovered after the surgery, the hospital said in a press release.

The patient, right from childhood had the mental framework of a boy and wanted to live like a boy. Her parents finally agreed to her plea for the sex change operation, the release said.

A team of doctors led by Dr K Ajaykumar peformed the complex surgery.
