5.7-magnitude quake hits off Papua New Guinea: USGS

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck off Papua New Guinea in the early hours today, US geologists said, but there were no warnings it had triggered a tsunami.
The quake hit around 58 kilometres southwest of Taron, Papua New Guinea at a depth of 50 kilometres at around 1930 GMT (yesterday), the US Geological Survey said on its website. There were no initial reports of damage.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had no tsunami warning on its website.
