5 kidnap man, one held

One person was allegedly

kidnapped by five following which police today arrested one of the accused.

Jaswinder Singh was allegedly kidnapped by five persons from Thakkar Sandhu village last night, DIG Border Range AK Mittal said here.

In a complaint filed by the victim's brother Sukhwinder Singh, he identified two abductors, including one Surjan Singh.

During a search operation, a police team intercepted a car near Tattle village following which its occupants fired at them, injuring home guard jawan Ramesh Kumar and managed to escape.

A police party led by SSP Batala Inderbir Singh then launched a search operation in and around Tattle village and rescued Jaswinder Singh from a car.
 

The main accused Surjan Singh was nabbed while four others managed to flee, police said.

Further investigations are on, police said.
