Five new Volvo buses will soon be added to the Dharamshala-Delhi-Dharamshala route to help commuters avoid buses running illegally, state Transport Minister GS Bali said today.

He said around a dozen private Volvo buses ply on this route illegally, adding that his department has warned the owners of these buses on several occasions and now, authorities have been asked to impound these buses.

"Before taking action, I would like to warn passengers travelling in these buses not to do so. Otherwise, they too will have to suffer," said Bali.

Currently, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) runs three Volvo buses on the route. Besides, one Tata air-conditioned bus, two semi-deluxe and three ordinary buses also run on the route, said the minister.

Bali said, HRTC has bought 20 new Volvo buses for various routes in the state, adding that the Katra (Jammu)-Dharamshala Volvo route is being extended till Manali via Chamunda and Baijnath temples and another Volvo bus service is being started on the Manali-Amritsar via Pathankot route.
