In yet another blow to banned outfit CPI (Maoist) during its 'foundation week', five Naxals were today arrested in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district.
Local police nabbed these ultras during a search operation in the forests near Kochwahi nullah, under Narayanpur police station limits, Additional Superintendent of Police O P Sharma told PTI.
They were identified as Somaru alias Mura Salaam, Somaru Gota, Laxman, Santu and Anant.
Mura headed the Mondi Jantana Sarkar group of Maoists in the region while Anant was in charge of Kasturmeta Jantana Sarkar, the ASP said. Laxman, Mura and Santu were carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 each on their heads.
They were involved in attacks on police, murders, abductions and looting, he said.
Some twenty Maoists have been arrested since the start of 'foundation week' of the Naxals which started on September 21.
The Maoist Communist Centre and People's War Group merged to form CPI (Maoist) on September 21, 2004.
