Jammu and Kashmir government has proposed to set up 600 new sub-centres under State Programme Implementation Plan, 2013-14.
The plan was discussed at a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to review the health and medical education sector here today.
The new sub-centres, including 238 in hilly and remote areas, will be in addition to 122 hospital projects on which work was on at an estimated cost of Rs 1481.62 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that revolutionary steps are being taken for expansion and upgradation of healthcare facilities in the state to achieve the goal of providing accessible and quality healthcare to the people particularly living in far-flung villages and remote areas.
Omar said various incentives were being given to doctors and other staff to work in far-off health institutions.
