Seven employees of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation were suspended today after a video of a liquor party, purportedly featuring them, in a ward office went viral recently, municipal commissioner Vinod Rao said.
"All seven employees, including a ward officer, have been suspended pending enquiry against them. They have been served with the show cause notices in this regard," the civic chief said.
The video, recorded by a cameraman of a local news channel, purportedly showed the employees, including the ward officer, sitting in a cabin with soft drinks and liquor bottles kept on a table.
The issue of availability of booze in Gujarat, a dry state, has been frequently raised by various sections of the society, including politicians.
