7-year-old raped in UP

A seven-year-old girl was

allegedly raped by a youth while she was returning from school, in Shamli district, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when the minor was coming back from her school in Ramda Kheri village and the youth abducted and raped her, Station House officer Naresh Kumar said.

The accused has been identified as Sagar, who is absconding, Kumar said.

A case has been registered against him on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's mother, police said, adding that the minor has been sent for medical examination.
