Eight unauthorised dyeing units in Meethapur area of Delhi have been sealed for allegedly polluting nearby localities through discharge of contaminated water, the SDMC today said.
The factory licensing department of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), taking strict action against unauthorised dyeing and washing units operating in Meethapur area sealed eight such units yesterday, a senior municipal official said.
The units had been discharging a "huge" amount of polluted waste resulting in water logging in many parts of the area causing inconvenience to residents, he said.

Permission was taken from a competent authority to close down these units involved in dyeing, washing, water cooling plant, and cloth-washing activities using large quantity of water which was discharged in polluted form afterwards in the open in absence of proper drainage system.
The sealing action took place following last week's visit of the area by SDMC Commissioner Punit Goel and Chairman of Standing Committee Radhe Shyam Sharma who received complaints against such unauthorised units indulged in huge water consumption and pollution, the official said.
