In a letter, the AAI assistant secretary, Gunjan Abrol today informed the presidents, secretaries and executive members of its affiliated units that the General Council Meeting will now be held on October 28.

"I am directed to inform you that on the advice of Returning Officer and on the requests of many member associations, Archery Association of India has decided to postpone the General Council Meeting which was supposed to be held on 29th September, 2012 at New Delhi," Abrol said in the letter.

"Election procedure which includes calling nominations, withdrawal etc for each post would be followed and the notification to this effect would be issued to all concerned by the association separately.

"The General Council Meeting of the AAI will now be held on 28th October, 2012 (Sunday). Time and venue of the meeting will be intimated very soon," he added.

Last Monday, the Delhi High Court had asked AAI to hold its election as per the National Sports Development Code, which renders its incumbent 80-year-old President V K Malhotra ineligible to run the poll.

Interestingly, the Indian Boxing Federation is also mulling to postpone its elections till the time "deficencies" pointed out by Sports Ministry are rectified.
