BJP today criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision not to hold Janata durbar, saying this practice of hearing people's problems has been followed by several state governments but the Aam Aadmi Party failed in its efforts as it did not organise it well.
"Janata durbars have been held by several governments both of the Congress and the BJP. Swagat is one example in Gujarat while Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been contacting people to hear their grievances in the last five years. But AAP is not prepared to meet people," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
BJP maintained that the thought of holding durbar to listen to people's problems was a "noble but not a novel" move by Aam Aadmi Party.
Sitharaman said Kejriwal's Janata durbar could not be managed well as it was "not done with adequate thought".
"It should not be that people come to the Chief Minister with their grievance but go back with two as they fail to be heard," she said.
She further claimed that some chief ministers were also using technology to reach out to the people and redress their problems but AAP has not used this method and instead done away with Janata durbars altogether.
