A students union of the Tai Ahom community today staged a sit-in in front of the deputy commissioner's office here demanding the inclusion of the community in the scheduled tribe list.
The All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union (AATASU) also demanded that the Centre make public the agreement between it and the NSCN groups on the 'Nagalim' (greater Nagaland) issue, which has been a matter of concern for Assam for the past several years.
'Nagalim' consists of all the Naga-inhabited areas of neighbouring Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Maynmar.
