Above normal temperatures continue in J&K

The maximum temperature in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir continued to remain above normal for this time of the season, even as the city received light showers today bringing down the mercury by a degree.

Srinagar recorded a high of 23.7 degrees Celsius which is six degrees above normal during this part of the season, a spokesman of the MeT office here said.

He said the maximum temperature in the city was 1.3 degrees down from the yesterday's 25 degrees Celsius.

The city witnessed light showers twice in the day, but overall saw pleasant weather.

The night temperature in the city was 12.2 degrees Celsius against yesterday's 8.5 degrees Celsius which is also six degrees above the normal.
 

The maximum temperature in the winter capital Jammu increased by a degree to settle at 34.1 degrees Celsius which is five degrees above normal, the spokesman said.

The minimum temperature in Jammu city was 20.7 degrees Celsius - four degrees above normal.

The spokesman predicted light rain or thundershowers at few places in the state over the next 24 hours.
