All urban household in Ukhand to be connected to gas pipeline:

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said natural gas will be supplied to all urban households in Uttarakhand through gas pipelines in the next two years.

Making the announcement after inaugurating a joint undertaking of Gail India and Haridwar Natural Gas Pvt Ltd for supplying natural gas here, Pradhan said protecting Uttarakhand's environment was the Centre's responsibility considering the crucial role played by the mountains of the hill state in providing oxygen to the whole country.

"In two year's time natural gas will be supplied to each and every urban household in Uttarakhand through gas pipelines," he said, adding it will be step towards protecting the state's fragile ecology.
 

LPG connections in Haridwar in particular will be connected to gas pipelines by March next year, he said.

Pradhan also distributed free LPG connections to women members of 68 BPL families under the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Yojana.

The Union minister who is BJP's election in-charge for Uttarakhand also addressed party workers and asked them to throw all their might to dislodge Harish Rawat government in the state in next year's assembly elections.
