Amy Winehouse's charity to open home for female drug addicts

Press Trust of India London
Singer Amy Winehouse's charity house has planned to set up a home in her name for rehabilitation of female drug and alcohol addicts.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation has collaborated with Centra Care and Support for the project in order to honour the late singer and to provide a safer environment to women, reported Femalefirst.

The singer died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27 in 2011.

"This project will make such a profound difference to so many young women, enabling them to have a safe environment to re-build their lives and put into practice all the learning they have acquired through their treatment journey," Jane, Winehouse's stepmother said.

The house will be named as Amy's Place which will open in East London on August 22.

"There is a huge lack of support to meet the needs of women in this area and we hope Amy's Place will show just how much more effective we can be and at this place we will give young women the tools and support to help them make this a reality," she added.
