Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests two cops for demanding bribe

Two policemen of Chamorshi police station were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding a bribe from a villager to release his motorcycle, kept illegally in the police station after illicit liquor was seized from him few days ago.

The names of the policemen arrested are assistant sub-inspector Vasant Hulke and constablBe Diwakar Bobate.

Allegedly, the two policemen demanded a bribe of Rs 16,000 from one Ganesh Bishwas, a resident of Vishwanath Nagar village to release his motorcycle.

After Ganesh complained, ACB sleuths caught the two cops red-handed while demanding a bribe from Ganesh in front of two witnesses.
 

An offence has been registered against the two police officials and they have been arrested. Further investigations are on.

The accused will be produced before the court today, the ACB said.
