Arms recovered from encounter site in Kupwara

Police today recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the encounter site in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir where two militants and three security personnel were killed on Tuesday.

"Huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site at Zoonareshi in Kupwara," a police spokesman said.

The recoveries include two AK-47 rifles, seven AK magazines, one UBGL, 116 AK rounds, one UBGL grenade, three hand grenades, two radio sets, two pouches, one compass, two map sheets, one matrix, one wire cutter and one global positioning system.

Two LeT militants, two policeman and an army JCO were killed in the encounter while six security personnel and civilian woman were injured.
 

The encounter broke out at village Zunrishi in Kralpora area, 120 kms from here when a joint party of police and Army launched a search operation to flush out hiding militants.
