The Assam Government today sanctioned Rs 252 crore for carrying out maintenance work of all PWD roads across the state from next month.
"Assam State Road Board meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday, approved Rs two crore each for 126 Assembly constituencies for maintenance of roads," an official release said.
Sonowal vetted different proposals of the Board and endorsed the Road Maintenance Plan for all the 126 Assembly constituencies and Rs 252 crore was approved for the work.

According to the statement, Sonowal asked the Public Works Department to start maintenance work from November to ease out inconveniences of the commuters.
He also asked the department to monitor the maintenance work closely to ensure quality.
