A Judicial Magistrate's Court here today directed police to register a case against four ruling UDF MLAs on the charge of humiliating women legislators of opposition LDF during the ruckus in the state Assembly on budget presentation day in March this year.

Based on a complaint lodged by MLAs Jameela Prakasham and K K Lathika, the court asked police to register a case against M A Waheed, Dominic Presentation, A T George and K Sivadasan Nair, all Congress members.

CPI(M)-led LDF opposition had been demanding stern action against them for allegedly outraging the modesty of women MLAs inside the Assembly on March 13, the budget presentation day.

The incidents occurred during the unprecedented ruckus on the day when the Opposition tried to prevent Finance Minister K M Mani, who was facing charges in the bar bribery scam, from presenting the state budget for the year 2015-16.

The Speakers's podium was vandalised and chairs and electronic gadgets were damaged when the in-house protest turned violent.
