The Punjab government today gave its nod for setting up three state-of-the art institutes of para-medical sciences at Patiala, Amritsar and Faridkot.
A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a high-level meeting, said an official release here.
Officers of Health and Family Welfare and Technical Education departments and heads of medical colleges of the state attended the meeting.

Presiding over the meeting, Badal stressed the need for harnessing the tremendous potential in healthcare sector by providing medical skill education to youths.
He said setting up of para-medical science institutes was need of the hour to absorb majority of youths by providing gainful employment to them in the health sector.
Badal said these institutes, to be set up in government medical colleges at Patiala, Amritsar and Faridkot, would act as catalyst in boosting medical tourism across the state.
