Bail granted to five accused in teacher recruitment scam

The Gauhati High Court's Aizawl bench today granted bail to five persons accused in the teacher recruitment scam, including V Zirsanga, chief executive member of Lai Autonomous District Council.

Justice L Jamir granted the bail to the five accused.

Earlier, Justice M R Pathak had granted interim bail to the five accused on July 23, a day after Aizawl District and Sessions Judge Lucy Lalrinthari rejected the anticipatory bail plea.

Zirsanga and the four persons were allegedly involved in the scam involving Rs 3.19 crore and were being investigated by the state Anti Corruption Bureau.

The investigating officers said that 41 teachers were recruited fraudulently and the accused included District Education Officer (DEO), a cashier and two teachers.
