Bank employee arrested for siphoning money

An employee of a private bank in Burdwan was arrested by police for allegedly siphoning off money from the bank account of a state government undertaking in connivance with a rice mill owner, a police officer said today.

Superitendent of Police of Burdwan S M H Meerza said Atanu Goswami an employee of Axis Bank, Guskara branch was arrested for allegedly siphoning off money from the bank account of West Bengal Essential Commodity Supply Corporation Ltd and transferring the money to the bank account of a rice mill owner.

The rice mill owner after the money was transferred to his account withdrew the money, the SP said adding that the rice mill owner is absconding.
