A 30-year-old man died while his wife and two children were injured after their motorcycle was hit by a truck while they were returning home.

The accused truck driver, Dilawar Singh, is a resident of a village in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

The incident happened yesterday around 11.20 PM when Rajnish Kumar was returning from a birthday party with his wife Rinkal (22) and seven-year-old son Ashu and seven- month-old daughter Anshika in west Delhi's Vikaspuri, the police said.

Kumar and his family were en route to their home in Tilak Nagar. When they reached Vikas Kunj, Rajnish tried to keep his motorcycle to the left but then a truck came speeding from behind and hit the two-wheeler, they added.

Rajnish was crushed under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot while his wife and children were thrown off the motorcycle.

The locals caught hold of the accused driver, Singh, and handed him over to the police.

Rinkal and her children are currently undergoing treatment at DDU Hospital and they are out of danger, they added.
