A BJP activist was fined for allegedly playing loud music outside the domestic airport without permission during Narendra Modi's first visit here after being anointed the party's prime ministerial candidate.

A fine of Rs 5,000 was slapped on BJP activist Dinesh Jagtap last night under the Maharashtra Police Act, as deafening and noisy activities were carried out by playing music and drums outside the domestic airport, without prior permission, Airport Police Station inspector P C Swamy said, adding that the activities caused inconvenience to the passengers.

In a show of strength, a large number of BJP leaders and activists gathered outside the airport yesterday to receive Modi, who had arrived here to address a rally.
