In what is suspectted to be a dowry related death, bodies of a woman and her four-year-old daughter were recovered from a railway track near Baidyanathpur Railway Crossing in Nawada district of Bihar today, a police officer said.
The deceased have been identified as Babita Devi (30) and her daughter Savita Kumari. They were residents of Pandui village under Meskaur police station.
"The bodies were discovered by local villagers in the morning. Our personnel rushed to the spot and took then in their custody. The parents of Babita have alleged that she was tortured and killed for dowry and then thrown on the tracks," said Nawada Railway police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar.
Kumar added that the bodies have been sent for postmortem and investigations have been started in the case.
