Sudama Dutta, originally hailing from Odisha, had been staying in Assam at officer's colony of his company for many years, police said.
He had returned from his office on Thursday evening but was not seen afterwards.
Unable to contact him, some of his neighbours and office staff reached his apartment this morning and found his body on the floor of the bedroom.
Dutta's body bore injury marks suspected to have been made by sharp weapons. Two daggers were also recovered from the spot.
Police have started an investigation into the case.
