Bottles, pouches thrown from gallery, cheergirls run for cover

Some unruly fans hurled water bottles and pouches at the cheerleaders, forcing the girls to run for cover, soon after CSK skipper MS Dhoni hit the winning runs against Rajasthan Royals here on Tuesday.

The cheer girls assigned near the gallery, who were preparing to celebrate Dhoni's winning runs, ran to safety after the missiles were thrown.

The fans did not relent from throwing the pouches even after a second batch of cheer girls appeared urging the crowd for restraint.

It was the first such incident at the JSCA Stadium since it hosted the first ODI between India and England in 2012 and several T20 matches.
 

It was not known what provoked the crowd to throw the missiles.
