Brain dead person's organs transplanted in Raj

Heart, kidneys and liver of a brain dead youth were transplanted to several persons at a private hospital here, its spokesperson said today.

18-year-old Raju was injured in a road accident on Saturday and admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Sitapura here but he was declared brain dead yesterday, the hospital spokesperson said.

After counseling, his parents agreed to donate their son's organs, the spokesperson said.

The heart was transplanted to a farmer last evening while one of the kidneys were given to a 45-year-old woman in the hospital, the spokesperson said.

Another kidney was transplanted to a patient in Sawai Man Singh Hospital while the liver was transported to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Delhi, the spokesperson added.
