The brother of a village head in Amethi district was shot dead allegedly due to enmity over some panchayat poll related issue.
Ravikant Dvivedi (25), brother of Lorikpur village's gram pradhan Raj Kumar Dvivedi, was shot at last night, Station House Officer S N Shankhwar said today.
Ravikant was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, he added.
A case has been registered against five persons at Jamo police station in the district.
Police is suspecting that some issue related to panchayat elections might be the reason behind the murder, SP Hira Lal said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
