The BSF today seized 1.1 kg gold worth Rs 30 lakh and arrested one person near the Amudia outpost within Swarupnagar police station limits in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district.
Acting on a tip-off regarding smuggling of gold from Bangladesh to India through this sector, 152 Bn of the border guards conducted a special operation early today and seized the smuggled yellow metal, a BSF release said.
At about 7.40 AM, BSF troops intercepted one Arizul Molla, a resident of Khalsi in Amudia area, who was coming from Bangladesh and searched him thoroughly to recover five gold biscuits, it said.
Molla was later on handed over to the local customs authorities for further investigation, the release added.
