Scores of builders staged protest today and burnt effigy of vice chairperson of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to oppose the ongoing demolition drive against illegally constructed buildings here.

In the sealing drive that started yesterday, the GDA sealed and demolished the illegally constructed and dilapidated buildings.

Addressing the protestors, GBA district president Rajeev Sharma said that Vice Chairperson Ritu Maheshwari is adamant to sealing legal buildings as well.

Most of the builders have paid hefty fines to get their maps sanctioned.

"llegally-constructed buildings have been identified by the Enforcement Department and the sealing and demolition drive would continue," the vice chairperson of the GDA.

Maheshwari had earlier said 650 buildings have been identified and they would be sealed by the authority and Nagar Nigam by the end of this month.
