Car stolen from former J&K minister's house recovered, 1 held

Police today arrested a car lifter who managed to steal a vehicle from the Trikuta Nagar residence of former Jammu & Kashmir minister and sitting MLA from Vijaypur constituency Surjit Singh Slathia, and recovered the SUV.
"We came to know that a Tata Safari has been stolen from the house of former cabinet minister and sitting Vijaypur MLA from his Trikuta Nagar residence," a police officer said.
Police informed all mobile teams about the theft from the house of a former cabinet minister.

A police team intercepted the stolen vehicle on the Jammu -Pathankot highway and arrested the man who broke into the house of the former minister to steal the vehicle.
"The car lifter has been identified as Imam-ud-Din, hailing from Ratanpura in Moradabad area of Uttar Pradesh," the officer said.
"Two police personal -- Kalyan Singh and Darshan Kumar -- who were on guard duty at the residence of the former minister have been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty," the officer added.
