The carcass of a four-year-old leopard was found in a well at a forest-fringe village in Kannur district of Kerala.
It was found floating in the unused well, located inside the farm at Vellunni near here yesterday.
The members of the family, owning the farm, spotted it when they had come there for some cleaning work.

After being informed, forest officials rushed to the spot and brought out the carcass.
"The carcass is at least two-days-old. The animal might have strayed in from the nearby Vellunnimala forest and slipped into the well accidentally," Kottiyoor Forest Range Officer V Ratheesan told PTI.
He said as per the autopsy, the death was due to drowning.
