Cardamom prices fell 0.99 per cent to Rs 768 per kg in futures trade today after speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels amid subdued demand in the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks in the physical market following increased arrivals from producing belts put pressure on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September fell Rs 7.70, or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 768 per kg in a business turnover of 590 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 4.20, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 779 per kg in 54 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in cardamom futures to profit-booking by speculators at existing levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.
