Cardamom prices fell by Rs 5.50 to Rs 1,065 per kg in futures trade today as investors positions amid subdued physical demand at the domestic spot market.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions too fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April contracts eased by Rs 5.50, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 1,065 per kg, in a business turnover of 14 lots.

The spice for delivery in May contracts was trading down by Rs 4.80, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,090.10 per kg, with a trading volume of just two lots.

Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts led to the decline in cardamom prices in futures trade.
