A complaint of gangrape, which was filed by two women here, has turned out to be a case of consensual sex, according to a senior police official.

"A case of gangrape was filed by two women yesterday, but during investigations we found that it is a case of consensual sex," Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Ravindra Prasad told PTI here.

In the complaint, the women had said that five persons had abducted them to a nearby village on their motorcycles and allegedly gangraped them, Prasad said.

According to the complaint, Prasad said, one woman was called over phone and asked to meet a man known to her. She said she and her woman friend went there and were abducted by five persons on three bikes.

However, investigations revealed that both women had gone with the persons whom they accused of raping them and had consensual sex in the village nearby, Prasad said.

"The women lodged the complaint after pressure from their relatives, who questioned them about their late coming," Prasad said.
