Acting on a tip off, officials last night seized Rs 61,000 cash, banners and posters of a party from a car here, the police said today.

An FIR was filed in this connection under the Representation of the People's Act, 1951, police said, adding the arrested person was later released on bail.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up for the bypoll for which 29 candidates including Sunil Kumar Sahay, the brother of Union Tourism minister Subodh Kanth Sahay, are in the fray.

About twenty companies of police force would be deployed for smooth conduct of the poll from 8 AM to 5 PM, official sources said here.

A total of 4,02,181 electorate are eligible to cast their votes across 425 polling booths, the sources said.

Congress candidate Sunil Kumar Sahay, BJP's Ramjilal Sharda, Ajsu Party's Navin Jaiswal and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) nominee Ajay Nath Shahdeo are among the prominent candidates in the multi-cornered contest.

The bypoll is necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Gopal Sharan Nath Shahdeo in 2010.
