Castor seed futures recover on short covering

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Castorseed prices recovered by Rs 23 to Rs 4,554 per quintal in futures trade today on the back of covering-up of short positions at existing levels by speculators amid a rebound at physical markets.

Market players said besides short-covering by operators, pick up in demand at lower levels and tight supplies in spot markets supported the uptick in castor seed futures.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed for delivery this month improved by Rs 23 or 0.51 per cent to Rs 4,554 per quintal, with an open interest of 5410 lots.

The most-traded delivery in October month also inched up by Rs 2 or 0.04 per cent to Rs 4,686 per quintal, in an open interest of 87,350 lots.
