CBI probe into Yadav Singh's assets: Court gives new date

Allahabad High Court today fixed March 23 as the next date of hearing on a PIL, seeking CBI probe in the case of alleged illegally amassed assets of suspended Noida Chief Engineer Yadav Singh.

The petitioner has alleged that the state government does not want a CBI probe in the matter and has constituted a judicial inquiry.

The petitioner has also filed a letter of Centre sent to the Chief Secretary UP to hand over all the relevant material/documents to CBI for carrying out the necessary investigation.

On February 23, the court had directed the state government to file it's notification of appointing the judicial probe commission in this matter on affidavit with in a week.
 

The court had permitted to the petitioner to file objections against it, if any, in a week thereafter and had given today's date for hearing.

Lucknow bench comprising justices Dinesh Maheshwari and AR Masoodi passed the order on a PIL filed by Nutan Thakur, a social activist, seeking direction for a CBI probe in this matter.

Advocate General (AG) Vijay Bahadur Singh could not appear on behalf of the state government, however, chief standing counsel IP Singh was present, the petitioner said.

The petitioner also said that she has filed in the court a February 24 letter by the Centre to Chief Secretary UP, requesting that all the relevant material/documents may be handed over to CBI for the necessary investigation.

Thakur said that earlier she had filed a supplementary affidavit before the court giving facts, including details of various alleged false companies floated by Yadav Singh for syphoning illegitimate money.

Account numbers of such companies had also been given, where money had gone directly from Noida authority, the petitioner alleged.
