The FIR was filed last week and investigations are underway, he said.
"We (CBI) found some irregularities in gold imports by MBS Jewellers. We also suspect the hand of some officials of MMTC", a senior agency official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
According to the officer, the value of the total import transaction could be more than Rs 100 crore.
MBS officials were not available for comment.
CBI had earlier questioned one of the promoters of MBS Jewellers, which has a chain of showrooms here, in connection with illegal assets case of jailed Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
