Centre's show cause notice to NDFB

The Centre has issued a show cause notice to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) as to why it may not be adjudicated as an unlawful organisation.

The notice has been issued by Justice S P Garg of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal with the objections or reply to be submitted in writing within 30 days from the date of service of the notice on January 9 last, an official release said here today.

The organisation may also appear before the Tribunal through authorised counsel/advocate on February 26, 2015, "At 4.00 PM in Court No. 32, Delhi High Court Premises..." the release said.
 

The Centre has already declared, under the Unlawful Activities (prevention) Act 1967, the NDFB an unlawful association by a notification issued on November 23 last.

NDFB (S), the Bodo militant group, was responsible for the December 23 massacre which claimed 81 lives in three Assam districts.
